Fremont and Bergan High School Baseball Co-op

Team transitions to FPS

Fremont, Neb. – (Feb. 3, 2022) Fremont Public Schools and Archbishop Bergan Catholic announced this week that the Bergan Baseball team will transition to the Fremont Tigers Baseball team this spring. FPS and Bergan have had a co-op baseball team here in Fremont since 1997. The team has won two district championships under the direction of Jeff Hayden who has been the head coach since 2013.

Members of both Fremont Public Schools and the Bergan Administration have made the decision and approved the co-op baseball team change to happen spring of 2022.  Chris Rainforth, Athletic Director for Bergan, says this change was made in looking at what is best for the program moving forward.  “We are excited that the head coach Jeff Hayden will continue to lead the baseball team, and the tradition of great baseball will continue here for the Fremont community. For both Bergan and Fremont this made sense because our other co-op opportunities are managed under the FPS activities department.”

The first day of practice for boys baseball will be Monday, February 28. The first game will be Friday, March 18 at 5:00 pm at Roncalli Catholic. “We are thrilled to continue this partnership with Bergan and welcome them to Tiger Nation,” stated Scott Anderson, FHS Activities Director.

Chris Rainforth added “We currently offer co-op opportunities for men’s and women’s swim team, women’s wrestling, softball, men’s and women’s bowling, men’s and women’s soccer, and men’s and women’s tennis.  The partnership has been great and allowed our students’ opportunities they may not otherwise have. We are excited about this transition and to continue to support the One Town One Team mission.”
