Fremont High School Names New Head Volleyball and Boys Basketball Coaches

 

Fremont, Neb. – (Apr. 14, 2021) Fremont High School is excited to announce Karen Nelsen as the new head volleyball coach. Nelsen is replacing Cindy Kostek, who recently resigned from the position. 

 

Nelsen is a Science teacher at Johnson Crossing Academic Center and has been with Fremont Public Schools for 17 years. Nelsen has coached JV volleyball at Fremont High School for the past three years.

 

Activities Director Scott Anderson states, “Fremont High School is excited to hire a coach that has been such a hard working member of our coaching staff for the past three years. Karen’s energy, enthusiasm and leadership abilities make her a great fit to lead the Fremont High Volleyball into the future.”

 

Fremont High School is also excited to announce Mark Williams as the new boys basketball coach. Williams is replacing Joe Tynon, who recently resigned from the position.

 

Williams is currently the Director of Counseling at Fremont High School and has been with Fremont Public Schools for 24 years.

 

Williams has a variety of coaching experience including time as the girls head tennis coach at FHS and coaching at Blair High School and Arlington High School. Williams previously served as the head boys basketball coach at FHS for 17 years. 

 

Activities Director Scott Anderson states, “Fremont High School is happy to welcome Coach Williams back to our athletic department staff. His passion and enthusiasm for the game of basketball and the students of Fremont High School are second to none.”
