Last week Fremont High School students participated in the Construction and Welding at the MCC Trades Invitational.
Mr. Jason Novotny had 3 students participate, 2 in Construction and 1 in Electricity. Levi DeBorer received 3rd place in Construction and will attend State SkillsUSA along with Bella Garcia, Henry Buck and Hunter Gonsor.
Mr. Rob Hocking had 16 students participate in Welding , 2 students placed in the top 3, Emely Garcia - 2nd Place and Anthony Ondracek - 3rd Place, they will both attend State SkillsUSA.
There were 4 students that placed in the top 10, Jackson Schutt - 4th, Chase Lupton - 6th place, Brayden Porter - 7th place and Dan Graff. Emely and Anthony plan to compete as individual welders. Jackson, Chase and Brayden plan to attend State SkillsUSA and compete as a Welding Fabrication team. The Nebraska State SkillsUSA Conference, in Grand Island, takes place April 10th - 12th and is free to the public.
In the Post Secondary Welding Competition, 3 former Welding Academy students took the podium as 1st through 3rd place. 1st place Joselyn (Jay) Dake, 2nd Abraham Manriquez Rojas, 3rd Place Leonard (Leo) Brester, and Bryan McClure 6th place. They have all qualified for State SkillsUSA and will represent MCC.
